San Antonio Falls

The last day of Spring Break Eric wanted to go on a hike to a waterfall he had heard about. It was called San Antonio Falls in Mt. Baldy Village. He told me that it was a short hike just over half a mile and it was all on a road except for the last little bit. He checked the weather to see and it said it would be in the upper 70's so shorts it was. We packed a lunch and headed out. Well the Falls are actually a couple thousand feet higher than Mt. Baldy so when we got there it was 59 degrees out. We didn't bring any jackets or anything. But we told the kids once they started moving they would warm up. The other thing was that this short hike was all uphill. And it felt steep at that. But we made it, even with a lot of complaining from the kids. It did warm up as we walked. We never expected that there would be snow on the side of the trail but there was and the kids were excited to be around it.

You can see the Falls behind us on the right. That is a glacier of snow next to it. It was beautiful. We had to hike a very narrow and steep dirt trail to get to it and then to actually get to the Falls we had to walk across the snow. So not what we expected.

Eric helping Lexie across. You can't tell by the picture but this one part was very, very narrow and it just dropped down. It was kind of scary to cross, but we managed.

The snow next to the waterfall.

I have no idea what Lexie is doing but it is our only family picture in front of the Falls.

That is snow on either side of them. The kids got very disgruntled every time they fell down into the snow.
We thought there would be a place to have a picnic--but there wasn't. So we stopped on the steep trail and ate. We kept a hold on the kids very tightly and wouldn't let them move.

How pretty! I'm surprised your kids are smiling in the pictures--makes me cold just looking at them!

I love going on hikes like that. Some of those parts do look a little scary though. Mason has that same green shirt that Josh is wearing. What a fun day!
