Ryan's Blessing

We blessed Ryan on May 31. At first when we asked the bishop if we could do it on this day he said no you could only bless babies on Fast Sunday if you want it done during sacrament meeting at that we would have to have it in a home. I was pretty upset. Don't ask me why but I was bohtered by it. Most everyone I talked to thought that that might be cooler but I just didn't agree. Fortunately, the bishop changed his mind (with a little encouragement from one of his counselors) and we were able to bless him in church on the day our family was going to be there. Unfortunately, though Eric and I had to give talks in sacrament (I guess that is what you get for not doing it on Fast Sunday) and Lexie had to give one in Primary. You could call it a Martindale Sunday.

Since we had to give talks I was somewhat removed from Ryan being handed off and all that but our family did great and Eric gave a great blessing. Ryan didn't cry at all, but then he hardly cries, and when that was done it was our turn. Ryan wore what Eric wore when he was blessed. Joshua wore it too. Ironically Josh was blessed in November and I was worried about it being too cold but Global Warming was happening and it was in the low 90's. Then Ryan is blessed at the very last day of May and it is in the low 70's. Go figure.

We took a generational picture and if you can't tell Joshua obviously didn't want Ryan in it. He thought he was so smart for covering him up.

In the busyness of the morning I forgot to give whoever got Ryan dressed a onesie to wear underneath so he kept showing lots of skin the whole day. Eric's parents and sister were able to come as well as my parents, sister, brother in law and grandpa. We were grateful for everyone who made the trip to spend this special day with us.
